PolyEuroLang

Matthew McVeagh | my conlangs

A generic 'Standard Average European' pseudo-auxlang, but with polysynthetic grammar.

The idea is inspired by Poliespo, but unlike that it would not be based on Esperanto specifically. Rather it would take as its phonological and lexical inspiration Esperanto plus a range of other relatively prominent Euroauxlangs of a similar kind: perhaps Ido, Novial, Occidental, Interlingua. This affinity should be observable in the word-forms despite the distinctly un-European nature of the grammar.

The polysynthesis would be provided by copying an averaged pattern from the world's standout polysynthetic natlangs. It might be good to make the result even more striking by making the morphic source for the affixes the same sort of forms non-polysynthetic Eurolangs have, e.g. verb tense markers, determiners and personal pronouns.

Since I don't really believe in auxlangs and would not want this language to be developed or treated as one, I am considering it a pseudo-auxlang instead.

The specific purpose of the project would be to demonstrate that although Poliespo is widely considered a terrible conlang, this is not due to the underlying notion of combining a European auxlang style with polysynthesis, which is a perfectly workable, if somewhat incongruous, proposition.
