Rom-Germ-lang
Matthew McVeagh | my conlangs
A mixed Romlang/Germlang (Romance and Germanic language).
I'd find this more interesting if the two language groups were merged in one (kind of like the gears, chains and spokes of two bikes might be 'merged' on impact). I imagine the following features:
-
front rounded vowels
-
new verb tenses built on combining a Germanic infinitive with to have, as Romance did with the future and conditional
-
subject-verb inversion for questions
-
Germanic neuter gender merged with masculine
-
simplified consonant clusters
-
retention/recreation of cases, especially in modifiers
-
verb-second rule but with a lot of object pronouns pre-verb
-
postposed genitive phrases
